There was 200 drivers in the Shannonside region that were found to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol for the first 6 months of 2023. The figures released by the CSO covers the Roscommon/Longford and Sligo/Leitrim areas.
There has been 118 drivers arrested in the Roscommon/Longford area in the first 2 quarters of the year for driving under the influence. 60 motorists were found to be over the legal alcohol limit whilst 58 were driving under the influence of drugs. Meanwhile, the Sligo/Leitrim area saw 82 motorists arrested for driving with alcohol or drugs in their system. 57 motorists were found to be over the legal alcohol limit whilst 25 people were under the influence of drugs.
