Tyrone grabbed a last gasp victory over Roscommon in Dr. Hyde Park.
Ethan Jordan 68th minute free kick, sealed a one point win to advance to round 2A.
The game started at a blistering pace in the sweltering heat of Dr. Hyde Park this afternoon.
Tyrone were two points up after two minutes thanks to efforts from Peter Teague and Ethan Jordan.
Roscommon opened their account for the afternoon when Darragh Heneghan rippled the Tyrone net after five minutes. Heneghan fifth goal of this year’s championship.
Con Kilpatrick levelled the scoring. Daire Cregg replied with two points. Whereas, Dylan Ruane followed up when he kicked over a point with the aid of the post.
After 10 minutes Roscommon led by two points, 1-03 to four-point. Tyrone hit three unanswered points through Ciaran Daly, Eoin McElholm and Niall Delvin as Tyrone took the lead on 17 minutes.
Diarmuid Murtagh drew the side’s level before Tyrone got their opening goal of the afternoon. Eoin McElholm fired past Conor Carroll in the Roscommon net.
Enda Smith replied instantly with a point for Roscommon. Diarmuid Murtagh followed up with another point.
Tyrone tore through the heart of the Roscommon defence again with Ronan Cassidy raising the green flag for the second time in the first-half for the visitors.
Diarmuid Murtagh and Ethan Jordan swapped points before the Roscommon captain stepped up with a monstrous two-pointer. Roscommon trailed by two with 31 minutes on the clock.
Tyrone finished the half the strongest when Mattie Donnelly kicked a point for Tyrone. However, Tyrone robbed Roscommon and finished a move with a two pointer from Ethan Jordan.
Tyrone took a five point lead to the break, 2-11 to 1-9.
Diarmuid Murtagh opened the scoring for the second-half after 37 minutes. Tyrone response coming through the ever-present Ethan Jordan.
Conor Carroll kicked a huge two-pointer after 40 minutes. Conor Hand clipping over a free 30 seconds after his introduction with the momentum behind Roscommon at this stage of proceedings.
Enda Smith struck Roscommon’s second goal of the day when he was found by Keith Doyle. However, Diarmuid Murtagh point giving Roscommon a tow point lead after 57 minutes.
Disaster struck for Roscommon when a Conor Carroll kick out broke down with Mattie Donnelly on hand to get Tyrone’s third goal of the afternoon.
Eoin McElholm was on target with the next attack for Tyrone as they moved two in front.
Diarmuid Murtagh had the task of tapping over a simple free leaving one between the sides. However, Tyrone came again with Ethan Jordan reinstating Tyrone’s two point advantage.
Paul Carey raised the orange flag for Roscommon with two minutes remaining.
However, the subsequent kick-out Tyrone went on the attack and were awarded a free which Ethan Jordan made no mistake in converting.
