The Roscommon and district league Champions St. John’s athletic bowed out of this seasons FAI Junior Cup when beaten 3–1 at home by the Mayo side Ballyheane.
Eamon Harney gave the Lecarrow side a goal lead after 12 minutes. However, Nathan Doyle Reilly had the side’s level as the sides approached half-time.
Cillian Redmond and Liam Morris added two more before half-time for the Mayo side. Whereas, the hosts battled hard in the second-half, they failed to make any inroads into the Ballyheane lead.
Division 1 Champions Ballinahown are safely through to round four following an impressive 4–1 win over Crossmolina at Ballinahown.
All the hard work was done in the first-half with the winners 4–1 ahead at the break.
Ian Rosney, Oisin O’Reilly, Mark Egan and Ian Rosney again were the goal scorers for Ballinahown. Martin Deady replied for the Mayo side.
The Dunmore v Cartron Celtic game was postponed due to bad weather.
In the division two, top four play-off, Ballyboro beat Cam Celtic/Dysart 4-1 at Lanesboro.
Jack Murray and Dwaine Tarmey had Ballyboro 2–0 up after 16 minutes. Davy Cummins pulled a goal back five minutes later and Jack Murray added two more for the winners.
The Glen Celtic v Carrick Town game fell victim to the bad weather despite Carrick Town making the journey to Glen Celtic.
Boyle Celtic second side and Castlerea Celtic second side will meet in the Shield final following semi-final wins.
In a real local derby game played at Castlerea, the hosts edged out Ballinagare in a game that went all the way to extra-time.
The deciding score came in time added on at the end of the second period.
Aaron Dowd gave Ballinagare a lead after 10 minutes. James Hawkshaw levelled the game on 68 minutes.
Jack McDermott restored the Ballinagare lead on 76 minutes. Just when it looked like Ballinagare had done enough to win the game, Conor Murray Kely got an equaliser.
The same player was to score the winner in front of the big attendance in almost the last kick of the game.
Boyle Celtic “B” beat St Cuans Ahascragh United 5–2 in an early kick off at Boyle. Alfonso Barrios converted a penalty kick for the hosts after 16 minutes.
Darrell Finn levelled the game on the half-hour. Colm Morris restored the Boyle lead just before half-time.
After the break Colm Morris added two and Alfonso Barrios one for Boyle Celtic. Peter Birch pulling a second back for St Cuans/Ahascragh United near the end.
The deciding game in the women’s league featuring Dunmore Town and Ballaghaderreen failed to go ahead with pitch conditions just one of the issues.
Shiven Rovers beat a much-improved Roscommon United side 2–1 at Lecarrow.
Rachel Farrell gave the Newbridge side a 1–0 lead with four minutes played in the second-half but Gerty Dowd converted a penalty to level the game.
Sheenagh Martyn got the winner with 20 minutes remaining.
