St. John's Athletic completed a historic Roscommon and District League and Challenge Cup double when they cruised to a 5-0 win over Glen Celtic at Lecarrow.
An early Jamie Tiernan goal was a sign of things to come as the Glenamaddy side struggled to cope with the wet and windy conditions in the opening ten minutes.
Tiernan doubled St. John's advantage just seven minutes later. Tiernan latched on to a brilliant reverse pass from Cian Kelly to guide the ball beyond Ross Hegarty in the Glen goal.
Daire Keenan's wonder goal on 27 minutes all but ended this cup final as a contest.
Hegarty done well to deny John's winger Kevin Brennan. However, his clearance fell to Keenan just inside the Glen half and he volleyed first time to the net with the keeper stranded.
The wind died down in the second-half as Glen pushed for a way back into the tie.
However, their cause wasn't helped, when striker Gavin Hegarty was sent-off for his second yellow card on 71 minutes.
St. John's added a fourth, nine minutes later when Keenan won and converted a penalty as the Roscommon champions made their numerical advantage count.
There was still time for Keenan to complete his hat-trick with six minutes remaining. Keenan finished from close range following good build-up play involving substitutes Rob Keenan and Cathal Feerick.
The win sees St. John's finish the season with their first ever Premier Division and Challenge Cup titles while Glen Celtic will be looking to bounce back.
