Roscommon keeper Helena Cummins up for golden glove

Golden Glove nomination for save against Fermanagh

Roscommon goalkeeper Helena Cummins has been nominated for the ZuCar golden glove award.

Cummins save from Fermanagh’s Joanne Doonan has been picked as one of the saves of the season.

Whereas, Donegal’s Clare Friel, Galway’s Dearbhla Gower, Laois netminder Eimear Barry and Meath’s Robyn Murray are up for the award with Cummins.

The ZuCar Golden Glove award was introduced in 2021 to acknowledge goalkeeping excellence during the TG4 All-Ireland Championships.

Voting is now open to crown the 2025 winner via the Ladies football website. Voters will be in with a chance to win a ZuCar goodie pack.

Option A is Laois goalkeeper’s Eimear Barry brilliant penalty save from Tyrone’s Sorcha Gormley in the TG4 All-Ireland intermediate final.

Whereas, Option B is Meath goalkeeper Robyn Murray superb tip-over save from Dublin’s Kate Sullivan in the TG4 All-Ireland senior final.

Option C features Roscommon goalkeeper Helena Cummins. Cummins heroics with a wonderful save down to her right hand side to keep out Fermanagh’s Joanne Doonan goal-bound shot in the TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate Championship group stages.

Option D is Galway goalkeeper Dearbhla Gower’s point-blank save to deny Waterford’s Hannah Power in the TG4 All-Ireland senior quarter-final.

Option E is another penalty save. A crucial save from Donegal goalkeeper Clare Friel to help preserve their TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championship status in the relegation play-off against Leitrim.

The winning goalkeeper will be presented with the 2025 ZuCar Golden Glove award. Voting will close at 5pm on Wednesday August 27.

The winner of the 2025 ZuCar Golden Boot is Dublin star Hannah Tyrrell. Indeed, Tyrrell finished as leading scorer in the 2025 TG4 All-Ireland Championships, with a haul of 6-28 (46 points).

Indeed, Hannah will be presented with her award, along with the Golden Glove winner, early next month.

Longford’s Riane McGrath was the inaugural recipient. Whereas, Laois goalkeeper Eimear Barry won the award in 2022. Indeed, Dublin's Abby Shiels was the 2023 winner and Kerry’s Ciara Butler claimed the 2024 award.

The ZuCar Golden Glove will be presented to the goalkeeper who wins the popular vote at the Ladies Gaelic Football Association’s website page.
