Only one of the top three teams in the Norio’s Premier Division of the Roscommon & District League won their games over the weekend.
St. Johns Athletic are a point clear of Moore United and two clear of third placed Boyle Celtic with a game less played.
League Champions St. Johns Athletic travelled to Boyle on Saturday evening and came away with all three points.
St. John’s started well and were three goals ahead at the break with the hosts reduced to 10 players.
The winners added two more before Boyle Celtic pulled two back in the last 15 minutes of the game.
Cian Kelly opened the scoring after 25 minutes and Daire Keenan and Cian Kelly added two more before half-time.
Tommy Hurley scored after 49 minutes and again two minutes later for the St. Johns side with Mike Corrigan pulling two back for Boyle Celtic.
Ballymoe F.C with a full-strength side beat Dunmore Town 5-2 Ballymoe.
Raman Saman gave Dunmore a 1–0 lead after five minutes. However, Eoin Morgan and Damien Goggins had Ballymoe ahead on the half-hour mark.
Padraig Martyn levelled the game near the end of the first half but Mark Kilcommins Shay Morgan and Richard Thompson added three more for Ballymoe to make sure of all three points.
Castlerea Celtic picked up three valuable points when they beat Shiven Rovers 2–0 at Castlerea on Friday evening.
It was dry cold evening with the pitch in magnificent condition to play football on.
With seven minutes played Jay McCartney crossed a free-kick into box for Jack Higgins to head it down to the oncoming Ryan Larkin who half volleyed to the roof of the Shiven net roof of net.
Celtic dominated most of the first-half but Shiven always looked dangerous on the counter attack.
On 58 minutes, Kailin Barlow put Jay McCartney through, who beat his marker and pulled it back for midfielder Chris Kelly to slot into corner of the Shiven net.
Both teams had chances for rest of game but the keepers were in fine form.
In the local derby game played at a wet and windy Lecarrow, Skyvalley Rovers beat Moore United 3-1 to dent their title hopes.
The teams were well matched in the first-half but it was a different game in the second. Skyvalley Rovers were well on top. While failing to take some clear-cut chances, they did enough to take all three points.
On 25 minutes, John Price volleyed to the Moore net from a tight angle.
Three minutes later Sean Fortune got on the end of a good Charles Nevin cross to level the game.
19 minutes into the second-half, Michael Garvey won a penalty kick following good work by Robby Brooks, Thomas Carey and David Grehan. Garry Canavan converted the spot kick.
Skyvalley Rovers had the luxury of a missed penalty before John Price added his second near the end following neat play by Conal Moore and Danny Lynch.
Moore tried their best to get back in the game. However, Brian Croffey, Keelan Galvin and Eoin Keogh made sure they rarely threatened their goal.
In the P.K Trailers Division 1, Ballinahown continue their dominance of this division with a 6–1 win away to C.P Ajax.
Playing with the wind in the first-half the winners scored four through Eoin Monaghan, Shane Allen and two from Terry Byrne.
Freddie Kelly pulled a goal back for the Castleplunket side after the break. However, Christopher Smith added two more for the winners before the end of the game.
Cloonfad United moved into second place following a 1- 0 win over second placed St. Johns Athletic “B” J P Donnellan made a brilliant save to deny St. Johns an opener early in the game and the losers had a ball come off the crossbar from the resultant corner kick.
Michael McGarry scored the only goal of the game with thirty-seven minutes played.
Moylough 79 beat Ballaghaderreen 5–2 at Ballaghaderreen.
Cormac Rushe converted a penalty for the hosts after 14 minutes.
Leo Donnellan gave Moylough a lead after five minutes, but Cormac Rushe levelled the game when he converted a penalty kick.
Donnellan and Sean Kelly added two more for the winners before half-time. Liam Frain pulled a second back for Ballaghaderreen, but Leo Donnellan and Joseph Whyte added two more for the winners.
The Glenamaddy side Glen Celtic stretched their lead at the top of the Killeen’s Sports fields Division 2 to eight points following a comprehensive 5–2 win over Roscommon United at Roscommon.
Glen were five up at half-time with the losers pulling two back in the second-half.
Dylan Joyce scored three, Aaron Comer and Peader Shanks one each for the Glenamaddy side. John Brennan and Aaron Shannon replied for the losers.
St Cuans/Ahascragh United beat Boyle Celtic second side 2–1 at Ahascragh.
Liam O’Connor broke the deadlock when he scored for the hosts after 55 minutes. However, Conor Calpin had the side’s level after 72 minutes.
Indeed, Liam O’Conor struck what turned out to be the winner four minutes later.
Lough Harps beat Moore United second side 4–0 at Ballinlough. Brian Birmingham opened the scoring just before half-time.
Tiernan Murphy added two more before James Morley completed the scoring for the Ballinlough side.
Cam Celtic/Dysart and Castlerea Celtic B” drew 1–1 at the League grounds Lecarrow. Ben Moran gave Cam/Dysart the lead and Conor Murray Kelly replied for Castlerea.
Cloonfad “B” beat Roscommon United “B“ 2- 1 at Cloonfad. Bernie McDonagh and Jack Madden gave Cloonfad a 2–0 lead on 62 minutes.
The losers came very close to scoring before Liam Hannon pulled one back with six minutes remaining.
Ballyboro and Carrick Town drew 2–2.
Fursey Butler gave the Carrick-on-Shannon side a 1–0 lead after nine minutes. However, David Rooney and Aidan Dooney had the Lanesboro side ahead near the end.
Cormac Smith equalised near the final whistle.
Dunmore Town continue to lead the Women’s League following an impressive 7–0 win over Shiven Rovers at Dunmore.
Ashling Hynes scored four and Lauren Conneally, Nicola Kilgarriff and Aoife Smyth added one each for the winners.
Ballaghaderreen women travelled to Castlerea on Saturday evening and came away with the three points following a hard earned 2–1 victory.
Playing in horrendous wet and windy conditions Grace McDermott scored on 40 minutes with a well taken goal assisted by Alannah McGreal.
Castlerea scored after 57 minutes through Rachel Gormley but straight from the kick-off Ballaghaderreen regained the lead with a great goal from Tori Duffy.
Ballaghaderreen held out to take all three points and remain in second place in the league a point behind the leaders.
Boyle Celtic keep their title hopes alive after a 5–0 win over new side Roscommon United.
Emer Callaghan and Maeve Brogan gave them a 2–0 half-time lead and Aoife Kiernan, Emma Duggan and Aoife Lyons added three more in the second-half.
Kilkerrin United had an 8–0 win over new side Carrick Town at Kilkerrin. Amy Boyle, Caitlin Boyle and Ali O Toole scored two each with Karla Collins and Ciara Boyle having scored one each.
St. Johns Athletic beat the Sligo side Real Tubber 7–5 in the Connacht Under 18 Cup at Lecarrow.
