It was a three minute spell before half-time that proved costly for Roscommon minors as they conceded two quick-fire goals in their All-Ireland championship semi-final clash with Tyrone.
After a tight start to the game in the wind and rain of Kingspan Breffni; Tyrone dealt the first significant blow as Darren McAnespie stuck over a two-pointer with the aid of the strong wind.
Roscommon fought back well, and managing to find themselves in front when Seamus Hussey found the back of the net with three minutes of the first-half remaining.
However, in a remarkable turn of events Joel Kerry equalised less than a minute later. Another goal from Peter Colton and a point from James Mulgrew left Roscommon shell-shocked and four points behind at half-time.
Tyrone started the second-half as they ended the first, on the front foot as they recorded the first three points of the second period.
Roscommon had their goalkeeper Cian Trimble shown a red card mid-way through the second-half following a trip in the box.
Corner-forward Dean Casey went in goal and made a remarkable save to keep Shane Moran’s side in the contest.
This sparked motivation into Roscommon who scored the next two points to get them back within four.
However, Tyrone remained strong enough to keep the Rossies at a safe distance and ran out as winners with a seven point deficit.
Tyrone winning out 2-12 to 1-8.
