With Roscommon and district league leaders Moore United not in action, second placed St. Johns Athletic missed out on the chance to close the gap when they were held to a scoreless draw at home to Boyle Celtic.
The visitors had a player sent-off after 40 minutes, but St. Johns could not break down a resolute Boyle defence.
Ballymoe F.C played Shiven Rovers at Ballymoe and after leading on three separate occasions they conceded three in the last 20 minutes as Shiven won out 5-4.
James Connaughton gave Ballymoe a half-time lead. Gerry Connaughton, Damien Goggins and James Connachton added three more in the second-half, it was man-of-the-match Stephen Murray who scored four for the winners and Keith Murphy added another to secure three valuable points.
The Castlerea Celtic v Skyvalley Rovers game was postponed as a mark of respect for the Costello family who lost their mother Maura.
Roscommon and district league newcomers, Ballinahown are top of the PK Trailers Roscommon and district league division 1 following a 3–2 win away to Ballinasloe Town.
The sides were level at half-time but Cameron O’Leary gave the hosts a 1–0 lead after 61 minutes. Ballinahown responded with a great left footed strike by Mark Egan after good centre forward play by Terry Byrne.
Anatolii Vovk restored the Ballinasloe lead with 10 minutes remaining. Terry Byrne latched onto a rebound after a shot from Michael Monaghan to equalise.
However, up stepped Michael Monaghan. The Ballinahown man got the ball at the edge of the box, knocked it past the defender and then rounded the keeper to slot the ball home.
Cloonfad United had a comfortable 5–1 win over Moylough at Cloonfad. Darragh Flynn and Kevin Byrne gave the hosts a 2–0 half-time lead.
Division one round-up
Aidan Sloyan added a third after 56 minutes. Two minutes later Dermott Hughes converted a penalty for Moylough. However, Shane O’Malley and Kevin Byrne added two more for the winners before the end of the game.
St. Johns Athletic second side are just a point behind the leaders, and beat CP Ajax 5–2 at Lecarrow.
Conor Murphy opened the scoring for St. John’s with just four minutes played. Darren Flynn replied for the Castleplunket side on 20 minutes.
Ryan Dowling restored the lead for the Lecarrow side and Jamie Tiernan added two at the end of the first-half.
Five minutes into the second-half, Daniel Connolly pulled a second back for Ajax. Charlie O’Beirne making sure of a win for the hosts.
The top of the Killeen’s Sports Grounds sponsored Roscommon and district league division 2 is really crowded with Ballyboro and Glen Celtic sharing the lead.
Indeed, Castlerea Celtic second side are just two points further back.
Ballyboro had a good 6–1 win over the Ballinlough side Lough Harps at Lanesboro. David Rooney gave Ballyboro a half-time lead. In the second-half, Jordan Donlon scored two and Aidan Dooney and David Rooney completed the scoring.
Glen Celtic travelled to Boyle for their fifth game of the season. The game started Glen Celtic found a breakthrough when PJ Shanks finished Michael Heneghan cross. Celtic doubled their lead after Conor Chapman put a ball in the box which Heneghan finished.
On 30 minutes, Conor Chapman took a free-kick which caught the defence off guard to make it 3-0. Boyle got themselves back into to the game after Darragh Hensey converted a second-half penalty.
Michael Giblin sealed all three points for Celtic when he broke down the line to finish a great solo goal to make it 4-1.
Cam Celtic down Cloonfad "B"
Meanwhile, Cam Celtic/Dysart beat Cloonfad United “B” 2–1. Andy Higgins scored both goals for Cam Celtic/Dysart with Jack Sullivan replying for Cloonfad.
Castlerea Celtic’s second side played a really good Carrick-on-Shannon side in very poor conditions at Carrick and came away with a 3-0 win.
Frank Hester scored after 25 minutes after good work from Captain Sean Murray.
In the second-half, Carrick put Castlerea under a lot of pressure. In the 65th minute; Aaron Grant crossed the ball into the box, Ciaran Kilkenny sold a dummy and goal machine Gerry Ward got his 11th of season.
James Egan wrapped-up the game in the final minute, rounded the keeper from a Ryan Larkin free-kick.
Ballinagare beat Moore United second side 6–2 at Ballinagare. Tom Ward scored three, Aaron Dowd two and Charlie Stokes one for Ballinagare. Shane Dunning and C Kenny replied for Moore.
Women's League round-up
Roscommon and district Women’s division leaders Ballaghaderreen beat Kilkerrin United 4–1 at Kilkerrin.
The hosts took the lead after six minutes through an own goal. However, Grace McDermott scored two for Ballagh on the seventh and 30th minute.
Ballagh pushed on in second-half adding two more goals through Alannah McGreal and Rebecca Finan.
Shiven Rovers were beaten 5-2 at home by Carrick Town. Rebecca Rutland put Shiven one up on nine minutes. However, Siobhan Conway equalized after 30 minutes and she scored four more in the second-half. Ciara Crehan scored a second for the Newbridge side.
Dunmore Town beat Boyle Celtic 8–1 at Dunmore. The visitors took an early lead through Andrea Hogan. Unfortunately that was as good as it got.
Aoife Smyth scored four, Erika Diskin scored two with Lily Concannon and Siobhan O’Grady added one each for the winners.
