Castlerea World champions Aoife and Lisa O’Rourke are set to return to the ring at the national championships.
The Castlerea sisters are the star attraction on Saturday January 17th in the national stadium in Dublin.
Lisa O'Rourke will fight Evelyn Igharo of Clann Naofa Boxing Academy in Louth a straight final at light middleweight. The card commences from 6pm on the night.
Whereas, Aoife will fight at middleweight against Wexford’s Shauna Kearney of Bunclody ABC. Which is the next bout on the card.
The Elite Championships, Ireland's premier amateur boxing tournament, was first hosted in 1922 at the Abbey Theatre Dublin. After an earlier All-Ireland event in 1920, eventually finding a permanent home at the purpose-built National Stadium in 1939.
Double Olympian and multiple Commonwealth Games medalist, Michaela Walsh of Holy Family GG Belfast, holds the record for winning the most Elite titles, having won her 13th at the 2025 National Elite Championships.
Indeed, the national championship quarter-finals take place on January 9th from 6pm. Quarter-final and semi-final boxing on January 10th will begin at 3pm
Whereas, semi-final boxing on January 16th will begin at 6.30pm and all finals will be boxed from 6pm on January 17th.
