Olympic boxing facing a knockout

Ireland have claimed 18 Olympic medals inside the ring

Boxing’s Olympic future is once again in the spotlight following the latest warning from the I-O-C. Due to a dispute over how the sport’s governing body is run, the IOC has organised the qualifying tournament for the Tokyo and Paris games. However, they are adamant they will not repeat the process for the Los Angeles games in 2028, urging national federations to form a new governing body. Boxing is Ireland’s most successful Olympic sport, delivering 18 of the country’s 35 medals.
