No surprises in opening round of GAA senior championship

There was heavy defeats for New York and London

The opening weekend of the provincial championships produced very little in the way of surprises with the majority of those expected to win coming through unfazed. New York and London's inclusion in Connacht has come under some scrutiny following their heavy losses to Galway and Roscommon respectively. The Tribesmen had 17 points to spare in Gaelic Park while the Rossies were 19 points better in Ruslip. However Roscommon manager Davy Burke believes the exiles are worthy of their place in the championship.

Roscommon will now face Galway in the provincial semi final with Mayo and Leitrim on the other side of the draw.
