Nightmare draw for Leitrim

Longford are to travel to Fermanagh in the first round of the Tailteann Cup.

Whereas, Leitrim have been given a nightmare draw against the top ranked team. Cavan, Down or Westmeath.

The format has changed for this year’s Tailteann Cup with 16 teams entering at round one in a backdoor system. The eight winners will progress to round 2A with the eight losers progressing to round 2B.

Three round 2A winners will progress to the quarter-final, with one winner meeting New York in a preliminary quarter-final.

Whereas, the four round 2B winner will move to round there, where they will meet four losers from round 2A. The round three winners progress to the quarter-finals.

Longford will travel to Brewester Park to face Fermanagh in round one May ninth or 10^th.

Whereas, Leitrim await the results of this week’s games. If, Cavan are their opponents the match will take place on May ninth or 10^th. If Westmeath or Down enter the Tailteann Cup the game will take place on May 16^th or 17^th.
