Senior Ladies Team
Our senior ladies team put up a great fight against Athlone in their Midlands league top four semi-final but just came up short losing by two points.
Phoenix were down by five points with less than a minute to go but reduced it to just a two-point deficit with a three-pointer. The ladies almost snatched victory with the last play of the game only for the attempt to narrowly miss.
Under-18 Boys
Phoenix were crowned LLR League Champions last week.
After losing to Castlerea Cavaliers by 51 points to 39 a few weeks ago; Phoenix needed to win the return match by 13-points or more to win the title.
They built up a 26-point lead at the end of the third-quarter. Although Castlerea won the final quarter by three points, Phoenix won 54 to 31 to lift the crown.
Under-18 Girls
Phoenix were outclassed by Tullamore in their Midlands League top four semi-final but it was a successful season for the girls.
They were in their first season in the top-flight after winning promotion from Division Two while Tullamore were last season’s Division One League champions.
Under-16 Boys & Girls
Phoenix put up a great display in their LLR Top four final against Carrick before eventually losing 63-58.
With just a minute remaining the sides were tied at 58 points each. However, the hosts hit five unanswered points to seal the title. Our girls team lost their Midlands League Top Four semi-final against Portlaoise by nine points.
Under-14 Boys
After beating Boyle by 19 points in their LLR Top Four semi-final. Phoenix faced Carrick-on-Shannon in the final, but the Leitrim side came out on top winning 44-39.
Under-14 Girls
After winning the LLR League title, our Wings team capped of a fantastic season with a thrilling win in the Top Four final, edging out the Carrick Cougars by just two points.
In an end-to-end battle that could have gone either way, Wings showed true grit and determination to come out on top.
Sarah Connolly was named MVP but it was a strong all round team performance that got the team over the line with a 27-25 victory.
Under-12 Girls
Our Under 12 Girls team finished off the LLR season by winning the double. After being crowned league champions, they defeated Ballinamore by 34-10 in the Top Four final.
