The Longford marathon returns to the street’s this Sunday for the first time since 2019.
Covid-19 restrictions saw the Longford marathon take place virtually in both 2020 and 2021. 2022 see’s the race return to action.
First established in 2001 the Longford marathon has gone on to become one of the biggest and most prestigious marathons in Ireland.
With Irish athletics on a high after the European championship a very competitive race is expected on Sunday morning.
Bary Sheil became the first local winner of the race in 2019. Sheil clocked a time of 2:36.28. The women’s winner was Niamh Kiernan in 3:12.22.
Included in the race schedule is a half-marathon and 5km run. Entries to all three races are still open and available via www.longfordmarathon.com
