Longford’s Tailteann Cup campaign came to a crashing halt as Fermanagh scored a 19 point win in Pearse Park.
Dylan Farrell responded to Robert Lyons’ early score. However, from then on the visitors were in total control landing the next six scores. Longford finally responded with a Dessie Reynolds two-pointer.
Fermanagh got another two-pointer before Dylan Farrell responded to leave Longford five points down at the half-time interval.
Indeed, Fermanagh used the win advantage early in the second-half to nine points clear. Jayson Matthews and Aaron Farrell responded for Longford but that was all she wrote.
Conor Love’s 55th minute’s goal wounded Longford deeply with Aaron Kelm, Garvin Jones and Largo Fox adding points for Fermanagh.
Kelm added a second goal to rub salt into the hosts wounds at the death as Fermanagh won out 2-19 to six points.
In the groups other game, Carlow and Wexford played out 2-16 to 1-17 which puts both sides on three points. The result means Longford cannot progress to the next round of the Tailteann Cup.
