Harrington confirmed apperance at this January's national championships.

Kellie Harrington has announced she will come out of retirement.

The two-time Olympic champion announced her retirement having won a second gold at last summer’s games in Paris.

However, the 35-year-old told The Irish Times, she will compete at the National Championships in January.

“I’ve had more than a year and I’ve had time to reflect on why I actually started boxing in the first place,” Harrington told the Irish Times.

“It was to get me out of the hole, the wrong road that I was going down. And I’ve had time to reminisce on how I felt when I started boxing first and how I want that feeling again”.

The 35-year-old would not be drawn on hope of the 2028 Olympic Games. However, admitted first focusing on the national championships.
