Intercounty player believes right call for GAA not to be elite

The loss of the Elite status has seen the GAA been able to return to training or plan for when competitions can return

With there still no clarity in regards to when GAA action will return owing to Covid 19 restrictions, Monaghan's Darren Hughes believes the Government made the correct call in not awarding the association "Elite" status to have them return.

The GAA worked under that banner towards the end of summer last year, which seen the national leagues and senior intercounty championship been complete. However the further extensions to the lockdown did not see them getting the same exemptions this time round, and the Scotstown club man noted it was the right decision
