Strokestown’s All-Ireland dream came to an end when Glenullin scored a goal-heavy Intermediate Semi-Final in Ballyshannon.
It only took the Ulster Champions four minutes to open the scoring. Ryan McNicholl found the back of the net to rock Strokestown.
An Eoin Bradley point was responded to by Strokestown who got their first goal of the day through Diarmuid McGann.
The sides continued to exchange scores right up until the half-time.
However, Glenullin provided a sucker-punch right at the beginning of the second-half through a second goal of the game. McNicholl once again the scorer.
Glenullin got a second quick-fire goal through midfielder Traglach Bradley to leave Strokestown seven points behind.
Shane McGinley’s goal got kept Strokestown alive. However, the point that came afterwards reduced the gap to just three points, before another sucker-punch came in the shape of a goal from substitute Willie John Bradley.
Strokestown never recovered or got back within touching distance as Glenullin saw the game out with a fifth and final goal of the game courtesy of Joe McNicholl.
Strokestown’s journey is over, Glenullin will now face An Ghaeltacht in the All-Ireland Intermediate Football Championship final.
