Brigids played the opening 10 minutes of the second-half with 14 men

St. Brigids boss Anthony Cunningham had no idea his side would open the second-half of the Roscommon final with 14-men.

Paul McGrath received a black card before the ball was thrown in following a fracas at the end of the first-half.

“We didn't know “explained Cunningham. Which is probably something that's a foresight, really, by others, not on our side.”

“Yeah, there was a big shock there at the start of the second-half and very, very unfortunate for Paul. But in these 10 minutes, we were in a little storm and then got going again”.

Brigids had led by six-points at half-time, however, Pearses pulled back five points inside five second-half minutes. Before the sides went onto draw 1-15 each.

“I think we did brilliantly in the second-half to come back at them because it was a tough” explained Cunningham.

Doran goal key

With Pearses on the up, Robbie Doran drove home a goal to pull Brigids back into the game.

“It was at a time in the match that we needed that score exactly at that time. You know, put us in the driving seat again” Cunningham explained,

I’m “probably a bit disappointed we didn't hold on then after that. But, No doubt, Pearses will be saying the same thing”.

Cunningham was happy with a replay after Brian Stack levelled the game five minutes into injury-time. The Roscommon SFC final replay takes place on Saturday at 2.30pm in Dr. Hyde Park.

“Just recovery, and just analysis and recovery” explained Cunningham of the week ahead. “We'd be probably doing the same exact same as what Pierce's are so.”

“It's here in the Hyde next Saturday, and we'll be ready for it” Cunningham declared.
