Cian McPhillips has been selected for the Tokyo 2025 World Athletics Championships.
The Longford man had qualified automatically for the championships and now has received final selection.
Whereas, McPhillips will make his World Championship bow in the 800 meters; where he is joined on the Irish team by Mark English.
The Irish team includes a number of World and European medallists, as well as Olympians.
Indeed, the team includes; Sarah Healy (Women’s 1500m), Kate O’Connor (Women’s Heptathlon), Nicola Tuthill (Hammer), and Sharlene Mawdsley (Women’s 400m, Mixed 4x400m Relay and Women’s 4x400m Relay). Athletics Ireland have name a 27 strong squad for the Tokyo 2025.
The World Athletics Championships takes place at the Japan National Stadium, Toyko from September 13th to September 21st.
