Healy leads the Tour de France

Ireland's Ben Healy is the new leader of cycling's Tour de France.

Healy finished third in today's 10th stage to wrestle the yellow jersey from three-time champion Tadej Pogacar.

“It's exactly that. It's a fairy tale” explained Healy. “If you told me this before the tour, I think I wouldn't have believed it, you know”.

“So, say to win in the yellow jersey, it's just incredible and beyond belief, really” added Healy.

The Easy Post rider enjoyed a victory on stage six last week and he's the first Irish man to wear the yellow jersey since Stephen Roche in 1987.

“I mean it's some pretty crazy footsteps to follow, isn't it?” declared Healy.”I'm just super proud to represent Ireland and wear the yellow jersey for them. And hopefully, I can do it some justice”.

I “gotta respect the jersey, and yeah, I'm in quite a nice position now, I guess, to just try and hold on for as long as possible”.

Healy becomes the third Irish man to lead the tour de France, following Roche, Sean Kelly (1983) and Shay Elliott (1963)
