The severe frost won out last weekend with only a few games going ahead as planned.
Moore United ended 2025 top of the Premier Division following a 1–0 win over Castlerea Celtic at a very cold Roscommon & District League grounds Lecarrow on St. Stephen’s night.
The win comes almost exactly to the day the club was formed 50-years ago.
The sides were well matched for most throughout, with Sean Fortune scoring the all-important goal five minutes from time.
Dunmore Town and Shiven Rovers drew 2–2 at Dunmore on Saturday evening.
Fionnan Coleman and Padraig Martyn had the hosts 2–0 up with 30 minutes played.
However, Brian Murray and Stephen Murray replied for the Newbridge side in the last seven minutes of the game.

Oisin Hynes gave the winners a 1–0 lead just before half-time. Luke Walsh sealed three points when he added a second on 68 minutes.
In the only other game played over the weekend, Dunmore Town advanced to the Connacht Women’s Cup second round, beating a fancied Gurteen side at Dunmore.
The sides were level 1–1 at the end of normal time and extra-time. Dunmore winning the resultant penalty shoot out on a 5-4 score-line. Amy Burns scored for the winners in normal time.
