Longford Town lost out to fellow promoted side from last season Drogheda by four goals to nil in Bishopgate in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division.
Mark Doyle gave the Louth side a one-nil half time lead. Chris Lyons, Mark Doyle with his second and Hugh Douglas completed the scoring the second half.
