Cian McPhillips set a new Irish under-20 800 metre indoor record on Saturday and also moved to second in the all-time Irish rankings.
McPhillips clocked 1:46.13 just .03 of a second behind race winner Mark English who set a new Irish record in 1:46.10. McPhillips time is the sixth fastest under-20 time posted in the World.
18-year-old McPhillips spoke to Dave Hooper on Sunday Sport and looking back on his race so far and his future including this year’s leaving cert.
