Post COVID-19 syndrome shares many similarities with other post viral conditions that have been around for decades- notably ME ( myalgic encephalomyelitis). It is estimated ( conservatively) that there are 14,000 sufferers in Ireland,many of whom are unaware that the symptoms they are suffering have a name ie ME- sometimes called ME/CFS. CFS stands for chronic fatigue syndrome.
Shirley Mc Creery whose daughter has ME and Dr Nigel Speight, a retired paediatrician from the UK:and one of the leading experts on the condition spoke to Joe Finnegan about the condition.
