Tourism Minister Catherine Martin officially turned the sod on a €1.2 million water sports facility at Acres Lake in Drumshanbo on Wednesday.
It's part of plans to turn the lake into a central hub for water activities.
The contractor will begin work on the new facilities in the next couple of weeks, and it's expected to be complete next summer.
