PODCAST: Local student says fee controversy proves higher education is a 'privilege'

The hike to the student contribution fee proves that 'higher education is a privilege and not a right' in Ireland.
That's according to Fourmilehouse student and President of Maynooth University's Student Union, Maeve Farrell.

It comes as hundreds of concerned students and parents gathered at Leinster House on Tuesday evening to protest the reinstatement of the €3,000 student fee.
Higher Education Minister James Lawless had announced the return of the full contribution fee for the upcoming academic year, while Tánaiste Simon Harris insists no definitive decision has yet been made.
Daniela Rana has been speaking to Maeve Farrell, who explained how she hopes the government will respond to the protest:
