PODCAST: Hopes political shake-up will lead to new school for Carrick

There are hopes Frank Feighan's appointment as a junior minister will help to deliver a long-awaited school building for Carrick-on-Shannon - along with the appointment of a West of Ireland education minister, Hildegarde Naughton.

On Tuesday, Deputy Feighan, a Sligo-Leitrim TD, was appointed as a Minister of State at the Department of Public Expenditure and Infrastructure.

Scoil Mhuire in Carrick is struggling with overcrowding, after its pupil numbers doubled in the past decade.
