More than 11 thousand people have applied to join An Garda Síochána so far this year.
The figure follows two recruitment campaigns, the latest of which received over four-thousand-300 applications.
570 trainees have entered the Garda college in Templemore so far, and a further 200 will start next month.

The target for recruitment is one thousand new members per year, with this years target set to fall short by nearly 400.
