Two friends who live in Mullingar have been taking part in the '12 dips for Christmas' challenge.
It is a challenge set out by the Irish Heart Foundation, which yearly sees a great turnout and encourages people to donate and participate in the worthy cause.
Mitko Kozhuharov and Katie Chapman were among the many who dove into the icy waters of Lough Owel at the beginning of December.
They have been speaking to Daniela Rana to share their experience and to encourage others to get involved:
