Two Roscommon MEPs have called for sweeping changes to the next Common Agricultural Policy, which begins in 2027.
Luke ‘Ming’ Flanagan and Ciaran Mullooly were speaking at the EUs agriculture committee yesterday.
Ming says CAP funding is currently at only 40 per cent of 2001 levels.

And Mullooly said the number of farms in the EU has almost halved over the past 20 years.
