PODCAST: Interview with MEP Nina Carberry as she visits Boyle

A local MEP says Ireland will have a ‘huge opportunity’ next year to make changes to the next Common Agricultural Policy.

It’s because Ireland will hold the presidency of the EU in the second half of 2026.

The European Commission recently announced a 20 per cent drop in CAP funding from 2028 to 2034 - but the policy won’t be finalised for another two years.

Midlands North-West MEP, Nina Carberry, from Fine Gael, says nothing is set in stone yet.

She was speaking at Boyle Arts Festival on Friday night, during an interview with John Mulligan.

She spoke to Eoghan Murphy afterwards.
