Concern has been expressed locally over the number of children on a waiting list for an Early Years and School Age Care.
Figures published earlier this week by Pobal, the organisation that administers Early Years programmes show that almost 900 children are a list in the Shannonside region.
353 are waiting in Roscommon, 351 in Leitrim while in Longford, there are 194.

Christina Egan is the chairperson of Boyle Community Childcare, which is campaigning for a new childcare centre in the north Roscommon town.
