Last Thursday on The Joe Finnegan Show we discussed the issue of serious concerns being raised about the export of live animals to Turkish and Egyptian slaughterhouses.
Animals rights group Animals International, which is based in Australia, and does undercover work into the treatment of animals across the world, has shown undercover videos to the IFA and ICSA of slaughterhouses where EU regulations are very clearly not being met.
Dr Andrew Kelly Chief Executive Officer of the ISPCA who is calling for the live exports of Irish animals to these countries to be halted, discussed the matter with Anne Norris on the JF Show last Thursday, and we were also joined from the farming organisation side by the President of the ICSA Patrick Kent who had met with members of Animals International last week and seen the videos in question.
Further to this discussion, The Joe Finnegan Show made contact with Animals International to seek their input, and on Tuesday of this week, we were joined by Biologist and EU Director of Animals International Gabriel Paun who gave his reponse.
