Gardai are investigating after a woman was seriously assaulted in Athlone town last night.
The woman is understood to have been attacked in the Battery Heights area of the town after 10pm last night
She suffered significant facial injuries in the incident and has been hospitalised. Gardai are appealing for witnesses and especially anyone in the Battery Heights area last night between 10pm and 10.30 to contact them at 090-6492609.
