Up to 800 people attended the official opening of the Arigna Community Park today.
Roscommon GAA superfan and the county's age-friendly ambassador, Paddy Joe Burke, cut the ribbon on the new facility.
The much-needed pitch cost around €500,000 and the project was spearheaded by the Arigna Recreational Enhancement Committee.
It includes an AstroTurf pitch and the Peter Leyden Memorial Walk, which runs around the perimeter.
Today's event brought to an end the Arigna Community Festival, which marked the 35th anniversary of the closure of the mines.
