WATCH: Northern Lights dazzle Leitrim sky

The Northern Lights put on a display in parts of the country last night.

The powerful solar storm was sparked by a strong solar flare on Sunday.

Aurora displays happen when charged particles collide with gases in the Earth's atmosphere.

The red and green spectacle was shared widely on social media last night - and may be visible again in the coming days - weather dependent.
