Visiting restrictions have been put in place at the Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore.
It’s due to a high number of patients with Covid-19, which appears to be circulating in the community.
In a statement, the HSE say as a precautionary measure, visiting restrictions have been implemented in the OHIU, Ardan and Pallas ward areas to help reduce the spread of the virus within the facility.
They say visits on critical and compassionate grounds will continue to be accommodated by contacting the clinical nurse manager or nurse in charge of the relevant ward.
All other wards remain unaffected by these restrictions at this time.
Where possible, the management at Regional Hospital Tullamore is asking patients with non-emergency conditions to seek assistance from other parts of the health service such as their local Pharmacy, GP, GP out of hours service, or a local injury unit.
Service users attending the hospital are also asked to wear a face mask while on the premises.
These measures will be kept under regular review.
The hospital has apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked the public for their understanding and cooperation.
