Technological Universities are calling on the Government to provide more purpose-built student accommodation.
Representatives from the universities were before the Oireachtas Higher Education Committee this morning, highlighting the lack of rooms available for students on campus.
Under the current structure, TUs such as Athlone and Sligo are not permitted to independently borrow money for capital improvements in contrast to traditional universities.
