Earlier this week, local businessman Seamus Gibbons accused the politicians of using the aftermath of the tornado as a photo opportunity.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar visited the area in the aftermath of the tornado but Seamus says support has been in short supply.

Leitrim County Council say public safety measures are still in place in Leitrim village following a tornado earlier this month.

Speaking in the Dáil this morning, Deputy Kenny praised the work of Leitrim County Council and first responders, while also acknowledging the visit of Taoiseach Leo Varadkar to the village on Monday.

He also added that he doesn't believe that insurance companies will take into account Sundays weather event when people in the area are looking to re-insure their properties.

Clean up and assessment works are entering their third day this morning.

A number of people are spending their second night in alternative accommodation provided by Leitrim County Council, due to ongoing safety assessments of the damaged buildings.

Substantial damage has been caused to homes, businesses and public areas following Storm Fergus yesterday.

An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has arrived in the village by helicopter to meet with residents, local representatives and first responders.

A number of residents in the village have been offered alternative accommodation by Leitrim County Council due damage to homes in the affected area.
