TFI called on to take over school transport scheme

Many parents have been concerned in recent years regarding a lack of school bus places available.

A local TD says Bus Éireann must re-examine it's policy on drivers over 70 years of age.

Many parents have been concerned in recent years regarding a lack of school bus places available.

The current age limit for driving a school bus under the School Transport Scheme is 70 years old.

Longford-Westmeath TD Micheal Carrigy says an assessment needs to be carried out on how to increase the age requirement of school bus drivers.

He also believes the TFI should take over the School Transport system:
