Tension surrounded proposed Drumshanbo festival

The Mise Éire Festival was due to be held there on August 23rd, but the committee has confirmed it will now not go ahead.

A Drumshanbo councillor says he was concerned about tension and counter-protests if a controversial nationalist event went ahead in the town.

Brendan Barry is also a member of the committee that runs the Mayflower Community Centre.

Hundreds of people signed a petition calling for it to be cancelled.
