A street has been renamed in honour of a Roscommon nun at Athlone Docks this week.
'Sr Bernard Quay' will now be the name of the Quays on Athlone's western bank of the Shannon River.
Athlone Mayor Aengus O’Rourke proposed renaming the docks after Sister Lynch at a meeting last year.

The Arigna native died in a car accident in Athlone town in October 2020.
She taught as principal of St Peter's National School in Athlone from 1974 until 1993.
