Small increase for sheep in CAP deal offers no encouragement to new farmers - IFA

There's concern that the small increase in allocations for sheep through the proposed CAP deal will not encourage any new farmers into the sector.

The Department is proposing an increase of 2 euro per ewe in the new programme which according to Roscommon IFA is not enough.

Chair Jim O' Connor says that many farmers in the West are relying on payments through the ANC scheme, and there's been no proposed increase in those allocations.
