The Sinn Fein leader says her party will not open refugee centres in places like Ballaghaderreen if elected to government. Mary Lou McDonald says international protection centres would only be put in affluent areas, with enough capacity and services to support them.
Ballaghaderreen has been accommodating hundreds of refugees in the Abbeyfield Hotel since 2017. Deputy McDonald says the government hasn't provided enough services to cater for the population increase:
