With Christmas offering the busiest and most profitable period for businesses, the Irish SME association is reminding people to continue boosting the local economy in their day-to-day lives in the new year.

People across the Shannonside region are being encouraged to keep shopping locally after the holidays.

With Christmas offering the busiest and most profitable period for businesses, the Irish SME association is reminding people to continue boosting the local economy in their day-to-day lives in the new year.

The ISME is reminding shoppers that every euro spent locally can 'generate up to two, three or even four times its value in community wealth.'

Speaking to Shannonside News, its CEO, Neil O'Donnell advised people to support small enterprises against the increasing competition posed by destination and online shopping.
