Shannonside region as hot as Malaga for next 48 hours

Weather in the Shannonside region is set to be as hot as Malaga in Spain for the next 48 hours.

People are expected to flock to parks and lakes across the region this weekend, including Lough Key in Boyle and Portrun in Roscommon.

But the hot spell will end on Sunday afternoon, when thundery downpours arrive.

Cathal Nolan, from Ireland's Weather Channel, says conditions until then will be very nice.
