Another former power station in the midlands area is to be demolished
Permission has been granted by Offaly County Council for the demolition of the West Offaly Power Station, known as Shannonbridge.
The station was closed down in December 2020 after permission to continue burning peat was refused.

Permission to demolish the station was granted subject to 16 conditions.
A battery energy storage system is due to be constructed on the site in it's place.
