There are serious concerns about the impact a new Aldi store in Boyle could have on a historic mansion.
Submissions have been lodged with Roscommon County Council, who will decide whether to give it planning permission.
Aldi wants to build a food store in Patrick Street, of around 1,800-square-metres in size, with 96 car-parking spaces.
The council is due to decide whether to give it the go-ahead by April 22nd.
But a submission has been lodged on behalf of the owners of the nearby Frybook House, an 18th century Georgian mansion.
They say they have “serious concerns” about the planned location of the store – and the impact on the grounds and historic curtilage of the house, which is a protected structure.
They have also raised concerns about noise that would come from the car park, with traffic and deliveries.
They also feel it would have a negative impact on the B&B business that’s based in Frybrook House.
They also say the Aldi store would potentially destroy views from the house.
In a separate submission, the Historic Houses of Ireland raised several similar concerns.
