Mairead O'Shea was honoured for her work with the political initiative 'See Her Elected'.

A Roscommon woman has been included on the Irish Examiner's list of '100 women changing Ireland in 2024'. Mairead O'Shea was honoured for her work with the political initiative 'See Her Elected'. The joint initiatve between Longford Women's Network and 50:50 North West aims to increase the number of female councillors nationally.

The former Roscommon Herald journalist was acknowledged along with her colleague Dr Michelle Maher for their work with See Her Elected. Speaking to Shannonside News, Mairead said it was a 'great honour' to be included but took the opportunity to call for gender quotas ahead of the local elections this June:
